One day my daughter mowed our lawn. Unfortunately, she didn’t know the downsides to mowing after it gets watered. It’s best to mow your lawn when it is not wet because lawn debris will stick like glue and then form a staining cake after drying which can be difficult to remove. This was obvious to her after we spent a good amount of time cleaning out the mower’s deck and hosing off our fence.

Another tip: If you see your footprints in your grass when you’re walking through your lawn, then it may be too dry. You’ve probably noticed it’s best to water your lawn in the early morning or after sunset- this is because during the day a portion of the water will evaporate before it effectively gives your lawn the moisture it needs. To avoid sticky debris when mowing, a dry lawn, and wasting water, try to water your lawn in the evenings.
