Community Home › Community › B-Hyve Indoor/Outdoor Timer › 27.5 volts at valve when operating
I replaced a Rain Bird timer with the B-Hyve timer. I noticed with no load the voltage at the 24 VAC Power terminals is 29.5 volts. That had we wondering what the voltage is to valves while the are on. I measured and consistently got ~27.5 volts on each zone. I can’t find the specs on the rain Rain Bird valves so I wondering if my B-Hyve is faulty and will shorten the valve life or 27.5 is acceptable?
In other 24VAC systems I’ve seen there is tolerance for 20% variance in voltage. So that would allow for 4.8 volts of variance or a range of 19.2 – 28.8 volts. So I think it will be fine, but I’m not an expert.
