Have you guys considered opening/building the web API? There are a few open-source home automation communities I’m sure would love to integrate these.
It wouldn’t need to do everything for starters, just support some of the basics: on/off, smart watering on/off, maybe scheduling, etc.
Here is our beta website https://techsupport.orbitbhyve.com/#/
to sign in just use your bhyve app credentials.
I can see my stations’s details at the techsupport URL you gave, but this does not seem to be an API, just an alternate web view.
Do you have a REST API or similar, such that an integration could be done with openHAB or other frameworks?
Thanks
Nathan
Oh, sorry no we don’t have any available. however I’ll send your request up.
1 up on this request please. Really my biggest complaint about these timers is not being able to control it through my smart home software. Would for example love to automatically turn on the sprinklers when motion is detected by my front door at night. Simple integrations like this are impossible without an api or at the very least IFTTT.
I’d also like to see a published API. I develop bindings for the openHAB open source home automation platform. I’d consider writing a binding for the b-hyve is there was an API available.
+1 for an API.
I’d love to see B-Hyve in iOS HomeKit some day,
But will speed up the job myself by writing a plug-in to NodeJS HomeBridge, as soon as API will be released.
+1 for API
For Samsung Smartthings
Another +1 for API or other integrations. Wink Hub would be a nice integration also, as it gives you a lot of flexibility. Guys, this will be very important for your future considering what people who are driving the home automation market generally want to accomplish.
SmartThings
+1 for API
I’ve came up with an idea to use them as autonomous remote valves on a manifold for a project, but that has nothing to do with irrigation, scheduling and sprinklers.
So an API for an on-premises WiFi hub would be great.
Any update on all these requests for an API? The last response from anyone at bhyve/orbit was about 2.5 months ago. It should be evident that there’s a desire/need for an API given the number of requests in this thread.
You could start with something simple. Exposing a notification API, for example, would allow notifications to flow into various smarthome platforms. Once in the smarthome platform, those notifications could be used to trigger rules to perform other actions, update status on smarthome UIs, generate TTS (Text to Speech) messages, etc.
