    To the product owner of the dev team:

    I would highly recommend you prioritize writing some docs or an extra set of APIs to expose some of the basics (All I would require is the ability to triggering a zone for x minutes.)

    Currently there arent many turn key solutions in the market and enabling the home automation crowd would do product sales wonders I can assure you!

    Here is a view of whats available for home assistant, as you can see its slim pickings and rachio is the only other turnkey product that was as easy, accessible and priced as b-hyve.

    To follow up on @ETTMAN8’s comment, the JSON-based API certainly looks straightforward enough to open up to those of us who would like to do the dev work to integrate it with the smarthome systems to which they contribute (in my case openHAB).

    Obviously there would need to be rate limits, etc. to manage server load. And, of course, it would be nice to have service (e.g. using socket.io) to be able to asynchronously receive events, such as when watering starts & stops, etc.

    I’ve been waiting patiently for an API, for years! Definitely need one! I can think of A LOT of applications I would immediately write! Please!

    Smart watering is an awesome idea, but I think the algorithm needs some work – e.g. it’d be nice to water additional minutes early morning when the temperature is going to be over 40C. A simple public API to switch watering on for a device for x minutes could be called from IFTTT. For all the technically minded out there, it’s possible to use chrome developer tools and postman to infer the rest endpoints that sit behind the tech support site. There doesn’t appear to be one to initiate manual watering – that appears to be done via web sockets. Here’s the fruits of my labour below:

    +1 for an API. It would be great to connect this to Home Assistant. With just simple on/off commands we will be able to implement more advanced stuff ourselves with automations.

    No api to initiate watering or set rain delay. At least none that I can find through debugging the web support UI.

    It establishes a web socket connection and then sends events with payloads corresponding to starting watering or setting rain delay through this channel. I can have a go at documenting the message structures when I get chance.

    Kurt, great work. Any chance this will one day work with the current version of the SmartThings app? I really don’t want to go back to the legacy, but I ALSO really want some way to get my B-Hyve into Home Assistant, and as there is a SmartThings component, I should be able to do that IF I can get my B-Hyve into SmartThings. Thanks for your work.
