Thought everyone might appreciate this update. This came from Orbit tech support about 5 minutes ago. I chatted with them as a result of the most recent addition to the thread:

9:48:51 a.m. Terrence W: Hello Stephen, thank you for contacting product support. Just a moment while I read your question and start a case for you.
    9:49:03 a.m. Stephen Rasmussen: Great.
9:52:23 a.m. Terrence W: I can check, if we are ever going to open our API. I know our device works with Alexa and google home. I dont think we are going to make it publicly open but I can double check
9:53:41 a.m. Stephen Rasmussen: Thanks for checking. Interoperability the Google and Alexa is not the issue. I, and many others who use devices like this, do a LOT of home automation stuff, and if your API will not be made public, then it is time for me and all the rest of us who do home automation to identify and migrate to a different sprinkler solution.
9:58:36 a.m. Terrence W: Ok and I was told we have no plans on opening the API at the moment
9:59:00 a.m. Stephen Rasmussen: Good to know. I will pass that information on to the home automation community.

Yeah, and the problem with what they do support sucks big time. Alexa can only control ONE device, so you can only control the one. I bought 3 of these because they said that multiple devices would work together, but that still isn’t true. Wasted a bit of money trying to save money.

What an absolute let down… with today’s ever increasing world of connected devices, many companies refuse to open up to make there devices better… it seems for the future all we will see is every company with there devices making consumers use 15 different apps for our ‘smart’ homes. It’s nearly easier to walk out and turn on a manual non powered tap timer…

Poor form Orbit… I wish I never started purchasing your product. Not being able to integrate it so my home automation system that actually knows how much rain I’ve had, what the temp and wind speed is decide when to water my garden or feed this information to the Orbit API instead of relying on a weather forecast is just a waste of money for me now…
