Hello:
I have a Bhive 8 zone smart water controller (4 years old) that has worked pretty well so far. Yesterday something odd happened, I have smart watering scheduled to start at the suggested time of 4AM for my two grass zones. Even though it hard rained on Saturday, on Sunday at 9:30PM I noticed the front yard grass was watering and had been for 22 minutes and I had to stop it manually. My grass never waters for that long even in the summer heat and water was spilling into the street. I checked the logs and my back yard grass also ran just before for 24 minutes.
I understand smart watering adjust based on estimated soil moisture and weather, but given it had just rained the day prior, and the temperature has been below 70 degrees for a while there is no logical reason for the timer to run for so long.
I live near the beach in southern California, so I never water in the evening due to the winds. The temp for the last two weeks was below 72 degrees, it’s been kind of cloudy, so no reason for this much water.
Any ideas?
