My internet service provides internet through a Cisco DPC3825 cable modem. We have the following firewall settings active: SPI Firewall Protection set to “High” and IPv6 Firewall Protection set to “On”. On initial setup of my Orbit 57950 B-hyve WiFi Sprinkler System Controller, I have to turn these firewall settings to “off” before the device will connect to your servers. Once connected, I’m able to reinstate the firewall protections, and the device will remain connected for some period of time (maybe a couple of days at most) before I get an automated email from Orbit titled “Your Device is Disconnected for over 24 hours”. The only way for me to reconnect is to temporarily disable cable modem firewall settings again.
Is there any way to perhaps update the controller such that it won’t have this problem? Or perhaps is there a firewall setting that could be made? Would like for a robust solution that doesn’t require me to constantly manage router settings. Thanks in advance for any help!
Roberto Woods, if you would provide me with the MAC address for your timer then I would be happy to check on your firmware and make sure you are up to date.
