I have been using smart watering for all my zones as an experiment. Last year I tried it and I’ve been hoping it I.proved since then.
Today all 12 zones ran multiple times (for almost 8 hours).
The soil moisture of every zone shows zero percent, and all 12 zones are showing they will run again tomorrow for another 8 hours.
What can I do to avoid this type of over watering and still user smart watering?
My mac address is:
44:67:5500:B9:C0
Thanks
I have the same/similar problems
You can partially bypass the problem by manually setting the % moisture for each zone.
I have 8 zones, and it is a bit of a pain, but it aleast it temporarily reduces over watering.
I think their equations for calculating evaporation are incorrect.. it always says the soil is dryer than it actually is..
and then it starts to over water like crazy.
🙁
The worst part is.. when you call the company – they don’t seem to understand that over watering is a problem.
The *reason* i bought this was to reduce my watering.. but this stupid thing over waters like crazy.
@Rwitzel 7 arvonn, if you just set it up and left your soil moisture at zero the system will think all of your zones are dry and are in need of a lot of watering. So I would suggest turning up you soil moisture, and in each zones smart details under watering schedule adjustments, you can adjust the runtime and time interval between each watering.
If your soil moisture seems to not be staying at what you set it at or keeps reverting to zero please check it on our online site. https://techsupport.orbitbhyve.com/#/ You just sign in with your bhyve app credentials and then select detail next to smart watering enabled, and it will show you the exact current level of soil moisture for each zone.
Ryan,
I have tried adjusting the soil moisture levels.
Part of the problem is that the soil moisture levels goes to 0 in about 2 days, I think there is a problem with the ET0 levels.

arvonn, if you’d like me to take a look at your timer please provide us with your mac address.
