I’ve been using bhyve for years and was part of the beta program in the past.
System worked fine last year. No need to water over the winter. Lawn started looking dry so I checked at the beginning of this week and it showed it was going to smart water Tuesday. Tuesday came and went and nothing. Looked Tuesday evening and it was set to smart water Wednesday. Wednesday came and went and nothing. Accessed the website for the cloud side (got access to this back in the beta days) and did some connection resets and resynced and hoped that would shake things loose. No watering this morning so I ran a manual watering on all zones and everything works fine. Zones show low moisture so that’s not the issue. The system just refuses to water on smart. Any input from anyone would help.

I had an Orbit rain sensor connected since I installed this timer (testing the sensor for the dev team) and disabled it a long time ago without watering issues. I connect to my weather station in the weather settings to get my rain delays, so I haven’t used the hard-wired sensor in a long time and never had an issue leaving it connected. I disconnected it and made sure the sensor setting was off, and it started working.
Who’s to say the sensor was the issue or not? My guess is not. I’ve had this issue a few times where the smart watering wouldn’t work. I’d complain about it, and suddenly, it starts working as if someone went on the back end and fixed something. It’s frustrating.

I started with the original and was given this updated version by Orbit as part of their beta program 3-4 years ago. Their dev team made some staff changes a few years ago and stopped reaching out to me for beta testing, so I’ve not been in the loop for a while.
I was given access to their web portal with more options and data than the app, but even trying to shake the timer back into smart mode didn’t work this time.
Usually, an entire reset works, but I get mad doing that when I have all my settings dialed in for smart watering and loose them.

After 4 hours of clearing and resetting the app and system to factory default (should not take most this long, I was having issues with a firewall and VPN I run on my phone and router) I got it to Smart Water this morning. Again, I had to clear and uninstall the app and hard reset and unplug the control unit for a minute or two for a fresh factory install on both the software and hardware side.
