New to BHyve and have been up and running for a few weeks. Where does the app get the info shown per zone for soil moisture? After the sprinklers run, how does the app determine how much moisture increase to reflect? If smart watering is ON, and it completes a computed sprinkling event, then should all zones show 100% as we would expect? Should the moisture level slowly tick down to zero by the next smart watering day? Does the system know when it actually does rain via internet weather and how much so that it increases moisture content and if so how does it determine how much to increase content? It seems to do that but very haphazardly not equally between stations.
TimB, I’ll answer your questions below.
The app gets its soil moisture from the data you’ve input into your timer, as well as the weather details. This also determines how much increase to reflect. The timer will usually fill it to around 100%. The moisture balance will not update in real time, it updates on a nightly basis. There is a maximum allowable depletion on each zone and that is what determines when the system needs to run again.
Bhyve uses weather information along with the information you’ve put into each zone to operate on Smart Watering.
I have a similar concern. The soil moisture for my device decreases too quickly. I will set the soil moisture to 80% and the next day it will be down to zero. I know this is inaccurate because I manually check the soil moisture with a meter. How to I address this?
So, in an ideal situation, should each zone be at/near 100% moisture? Does it mean 100% of the “ideal” moisture level for the plant and ground conditions input? Or is 100% equivalent to 100% saturation, which may be good for some plants and not good for other plants?

@einstein the 100% soil moisture will be taking into account your vegetation type that you’ve chosen. obviously it doesn’t do it for every possible type of plant, but it will be based off of the type of vegetation chosen, as well as your soil type. 100% is what is ideal for the parameters you’ve set.
