I learned the hard way about Gen 1/Gen 2 hub & timers last year. I bought a Gen 1 and couldn’t get it to connect at all and it for sure would not connect to another Gen 2 timer. I ended up returning all the Gen 1 stuff and getting only Gen 2 and I was able to get it to work. The software/app is a major pain to get connected but once connected it seems to be pretty solid. I basically installed and re-installed all 3 pieces several times in different orders to get connected. (2 timers and one hub).. Today, a year later, I did the same thing at another house and ended up with the same run around. This location is having problems with the hub reaching both timers at the same time. I think the hub is Bluetooth to the timers and the BT strength is pretty weak. Even with my cell phone direct bluetooth to the timers, I need to be within 50 ft and line of sight. Might have to get another hub, ugh… The crazy part is that the regular Orbit underground system controller is rock solid and I just do a standard setup (2-3 minutes). I have 5 of them all over town and they are great.
