Yes, the Gen 2 is a VERY poor design to have a short range BT mesh connected with only a single WiFi hub as part of that mesh. These are advertised as WiFi connected but are really short range mesh connected via a single WiFi hub. So all devices have to talk to the hub which talks to WiFi. There are no extenders for the hub other than maybe the units themselves if they are true mesh. So in theory if a true mesh, you could chain them out to a distance as long as the hub see’s #1, #1 sees #2, #2 sees #3, etc. #3 would not have to see the hub nor wifi just another unit that eventually can rely the data back to the hub. But this is a very Atypical design I would think. I have two acres and faucets are only on either end. Each with Wifi but they can’t be part of the same system. Took 5 phone calls and several chats with less than knowledgable staff to find the answer since Bhyve thinks they don’t need to provide any real documentation on how these work. I actually expected the hub would be a single device that would include each of the wireless valves as zones, much like their larger wired units. Wishfull thinking I guess. These are pretty lame units and could use both better design and better sofware, not to mention more documenation and a lot better technical support.
