    I am getting zone fault message I disconnected the wire at the valve tested it had 24 vac on the wire it did not fault until I reconnected the wire

    I’m not familiar with that error but it seems like the solenoid on the valve is fried and shorting to Neutral. Connect the wire to the valve again and check voltage if you are able to stick the meter probes into the wire nuts. If the voltage drops below approximately 18 Volts AC then the solenoid coil is bad. You can usually get a replacement for whatever brand you have at the store you got the valve from
