What mobile devices are supported?

Android and Apple devices are supported; Android 5.0 and up, iOS 13 and up.

Can I use my flood sensor outside?

The flood sensor is designed for indoor use only.

How close does my flood sensor need to be to the hub?

The range can be affected or reduced by walls, electronics and other interference.

How do I pair my flood sensor to the app?

Log into your B-hyve account on the app and tap “My B-hyve”. Go to “devices” then
“add device”. The app will walk you through the rest of the process.
If at any time you need to re-pair, quickly press the button on the back
of the flood sensor 5 times.

What do the blinking lights mean?

LED Status
10 Red blinks in 2 seconds followed by 3 beeps Factory Reset

How many devices can I connect to a hub?

Fifteen flood sensors can be connected to the hub.

How many flood sensors should I have?

It is recommended that anywhere in your home you have a water source a flood sensor should be placed. Examples are:  beneath sinks, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, toilets, washing machines, water heaters, water softeners, etc.

How should I place the flood sensor?

The flood sensor should be placed flat on the floor near the water source.

Can I hang my flood sensor on the wall?

It is recommended that the flood sensor be placed flat on the floor to detect water.

What is the operating temperature of the flood sensor?

32°F to 158°F (0°C to 70°C)

How long does a battery last?

Under normal circumstances the battery should last at least 1 year.

How do I know when the battery needs to be replaced?

The flood sensor will send a notification via the app that the battery is getting low and should be replaced.

How do I replace the battery in my flood sensor?

Replacing the Battery
• Insert a flathead screwdriver into the open slot.
• Turn the screwdriver 90º to snap open the cover.
• To remove the battery, lift on the edge of the coin cell
battery using your fingers. DO NOT use a screwdriver
or other metal object.
• Insert a new CR2032 battery at an angle.
• Verify that the + side is up.
• Reinstall the battery cover by snapping it into place.
Always completely secure the battery compartment. If the battery
compartment does not close securely, stop using the product, remove
the batteries and keep it away from children.

How do I know if my flood sensor is offline?

    1. A notification will be sent via the app; if notifications are enabled.
    2. A notification will be sent to your registered email.

Can I test my flood sensor to know its working?

To simulate a flood event, touch a paperclip to each side of the contacts located on the bottom of the flood sensor, labeled water sensors in the manual.

How do I reset my flood sensor?

Push the reset button located on the back of the flood sensor 5 times quickly.

How much water is needed for the flood sensor to alarm?

There must be enough water for it to make contact with the two contact points on the bottom of the flood sensor in order for it to alarm.

How long does it take for the flood sensor to send an alarm?

The flood sensor will activate within seconds of coming into contact with water.

How do I know my flood sensor has detected a leak?

    1. An audible alarm will sound.
    2. A red blinking light will flash every 5 seconds.
    3. A notification will be sent via the app; if notifications are enabled.
    4. A notification will be sent to your registered email.

How do I get the flood sensor to stop sending an audible alarm?

To silence the alarm, press the button on the back of the flood sensor once.

Will the flood sensor work if completely submerged in water?

Yes, the flood sensor will work if submerged and will notify you of a leak event, but should be replaced with a new unit once the area is dry.

Is the flood sensor reusable after detecting a leak?

Yes, the flood sensor is reusable after a leak.  The flood sensor should be removed from any water as soon as possible following a detected leak and dried.  Once dry, the flood sensor may be reused. However, we recommend replacement of the flood sensor if there is a flood event.

How long will it take for the flood sensor to register updates I make within the app?

    1. Changes may take up to one hour to be synced with the flood sensor.
    2. Changes may be synced immediately by pressing the button on the back of the flood sensor once.

How do I clear the flood sensor alarm within the app?

    1. For a water event, when the flood sensor is dry the alarm notification will clear.
    2. For a temperature event, when the range is back to normal the notification will clear.

How accurate is the temperature detection?

It has a +/- 4°F (2° C) accuracy reading.

How does the flood sensor detect freeze conditions?

The flood sensor contains a thermistor which reads the temperature every 10 minutes and sends a notification to the app if the temperature is outside of the parameters you set within the app.

How often does the flood sensor update the temperature reading in the app?

The flood sensor will sync the temperature within the app hourly.

How often does the flood sensor check my temperature settings to detect a change?

The flood sensor will check every 10 minutes for a temperature change.

Can I change the Volume of the Flood Sensor Alert?

You are unable to change the volume for the alert that the Flood Sensor makes when it detects liquid
