Pairing Indoor/Outdoor B-hyve Controller – ABCD Version
Thank you for purchasing your Indoor Bhyve controller! Getting the Controller connected to the network is fairly simple, and we’ll walk you through it in this guide.
A couple of things you need to know before pairing:
- B-hyve timers will only connect to 2.4 GHz networks. If your network has a “blended” network, it will need to be separated.
- Network name (SSID) and password are required
- We recommend mounting the controller within 50 ft of your router
Pairing your controller
First, make sure your controller is in pairing mode (indicated by either Pair on the display, or a pulsating Bluetooth Icon).
Select this is a new device
Select timer
Match your Indoor/Outdoor Controllers MAC ID with the MAC listed in the app
Were you successful? If not, please try a couple more times. If you have repeated the pairing process 3 times and were not able to pair, please click here to initiate the warranty process. (link broken)
- If you found a controller with a different MAC address, tap “This is not my device”.
- If it did not find your Controller, perform a factory reset by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds.
Now that you’re connected to your timer’s Bluetooth Network, it will begin to look for a Wi-Fi network. Locate your Wi-Fi on the list provided. If you are unable to find your network, tap the refresh button and it’ll search again.
Once you’ve located your Wi-Fi, input your password and tap “connect to network.”
Your timer should now be connected to your network. If this is your first setup, you can continue through the initial setup process.
Were you successful? If not, please take a look at your router. You may need to change few settings as described below.
If you did not find your Wifi, we will need to look at your router:
- Ensure your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz signal
- Move your Wifi Hub closer to your router
If you are having issues connecting your Wifi Hub to your router, you may need to change a few settings of your router settings
- Firewall – High firewall settings can prevent communications with the B-hyve server
- MAC Filtering – If this is on, your router will block your Wifi Hub from connecting
- DNS Settings – We recommend using the public Google DNS settings (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4)
If your controller isn’t connecting to your network, give these steps a try:
- Factory Reset
- Sometimes, the best thing to do is a factory reset and start over. To do this, just unplug the controller from your outlet for 3-5 seconds, and then plug it back in. Then press and hold the reset button for 10-12 seconds, or until everything lights up on the timer display. This will reset the timer and put it back into pairing mode automatically.
- Check router settings
- Make sure your router is still online and broadcasting a signal.
- Some internal settings may need to be changed. High firewall settings will prevent the controller from contacting our server. MAC filtering will not allow your controller to connect to your router. We recommend using the Google Public DNS settings (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4). Here is an example of where to find those settings in your router.
